ECCE's statement upon the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, Elisabeth II

21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022

The European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE) is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We join the Royal Family in mourning the loss of an extraordinary person whose tireless dedication, presence and equilibrium set an example for each and every one of us.

Throughout her reign of more than seven decades of extraordinary change, upheaval and challenge, Her Majesty was the epitome of wisdom, stability, duty and grace.

The Institution of Civil Engineers as founding member of ECCE has imprinted us with Her spirit and wisdom and has lead us the way to a large European community of civil engineers.

ECCE pays tribute to her unstinting dedication, dignity and tireless commitment and we extend our condolences to the British Royal Family, to ECCE's UK member association the Institution of Civil Engineers and to all our friends and colleagues around the world at this sad time.

Andreas Brandner,

President of ECCE
