10th CECPC-CICPC meeting

14-15 March 2019, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Civil engineers from 15 countries (Brazil, Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, Guatemala, Mozambique, Paraguay, Portugal, Uruguay and Mexico) met in Rio de Janeiro for the 10th Council Meeting of the Professional Associations of Civil Engineers of the Portuguese and Spanish Countries (CECPC), on March 14 and 15, 2019.
One of the main topics discussed was higher education and professional training. Such topic will develop in a task group to be chaired by Brazil's representative, Federal Councilor Osmar Barros Jr., of CONFEA, and will be presented during next year's meeting being discussed throughout the year in its corresponding task group. "We want to understand the differences between each one of our countries so that we can then have a common baseline, compliant with the each countries regulations," declared Potuguese Ordem Vice-President Fernando Santos.
The second task group will study the feasibility of developing an intraregional professional mobility initiative, similar to the bilateral agreement signed between Brazil's CONFEA and the Portuguese Ordem, to be chaired by the Spanish Colegio.
Due to the current state of affairs, Portuguese Ordem requested Colegio to take over the presidency for the next year due to several commitments. The Assembly ratified this acting presidency until the 11th Meeting of the Council of Professional Associations of Civil Engineers of the Portuguese and Spanish Countries to be held in March 2020 in Luanda, Angola.

During the meeting the Declaration of Rio de Janeiro "In defense of the future" was signed.
