Vassilis Economopoulos Elected as a New President of the European Council of Civil Engineers

on October 18th, 2008, at the 48th ECCE General Assembly Meeting in Larnaca in Cyprus

General Assembly of the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE) has elected Vassilis Economopoulos, ECCE National Delegate of the Association of Civil Engineers of Greece (ACEG), as its new President at the ECCE Executive Board Elections that took place on October 18th, 2008, at the 48th ECCE General Assembly Meeting in Larnaca in Cyprus.



Vassilis Economopoulos is a Civil Engineer graduated from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), acting as individual professional by the license from the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG). He is also a graduate of Law and Public Administration Department of the National University of Athens.

Vassilis Economopoulos is an independent consultant in transport and water engineering. He had been the Managing Director and the General Manager of the Athens Metro Operation Company and has participated in the Administrative Boards of Public Companies in construction and design sector. He was also a Co-operator of a Vice President/Member of the European Parliament, Governor of a Pension Fund and President in a Municipal Water Company.

Vassilis Economopoulos had been the President of the Association of Civil Engineers of Greece (ACEG) and the Vice President in the Pan-Hellenic General Assembly of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG). He was also elected as a Chairman of the Transport Economics Committee of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) and a member of its Policy Board.

Vassilis Economopoulos has been actively involved in ECCE’s work for more than 15 years and has been a Member and Vice President / Honorary Treasurer of the ECCE Executive Board since 1998.
