    Built environment professional specialized in project and financial 
    management, public policy development and entrepreneurship.

CURRENT POSITIONS
  • Development Director, Finnish Association of Civil Engineers RIL, (4/2008 - today). Responsible on Association's project portfolio, design competitions and public policy measures.
Projects are developed to answer generic or specific needs of the branch, and they always involve from few to up to 20 other partners. The results are typically delivered to the highest national authorities. Current projects range from State of the Nation reports to a vision paper on knowledge and skills of the future professionals of built environment. In addition to the anticipated impact, project eligibility is always measured against financial profitability criteria. // Design competitions are one of the practical tools to improve the recognizability of the civil engineering profession, to challenge the companies to innovate and develop, and to open the Finnish branch to international influences. By 2010, four major competitions were executed with a total net investment worth of well over 100 million Euros. // Public policy measures are based on RIL's role as the independent knowledge hub of the built environment. Activities include all sorts of interaction with the stake-holders and decision-makers, from academia to companies and national government.

Circa 50 projects for Finnish municipalities, companies and authorities. Specialized on financial modeling, restructuring processes, and strategic management consulting. Accumulated net worth of planned transactions around 2.5 billion Euros.

  • Diverse shorter term tasks, (since 1995, minimum duration 2 months each)
Project Manager for joint R&D project, National Technology Agency of Finland. Assistant for an MP, House of Parliament of Finland. Water and Waste Process Engineer, largest Finnish contractor YIT Plc. Network maintenance team supervisor, Helsinki Water.

International experience from Sweden (R&D assistant, pulp waste water pilot plant), Northern Ireland (junior engineer, Roads Service), and the US (analyst, Embassy of Finland). Seven published professional publications as the sole writer or as editor - in - chief.
